John Smith Posted September 23, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted September 23, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone done a comparison of these two lenses? I just watched a Leica Academie video on YouTube with Nick Rains where he reviewed the 75mm Noctilux. Got me wondering about the .75 aperture and rendering differences. Plus, I'm starting to like manual focus again.
Jim B Posted September 23, 2020 Share #2  Posted September 23, 2020 I have the 75mm M Noctilux f1.25 is the aperature. Not sure why you are stating .75  Anyhow, it’s not worth the money. IMHO
thatkatmat Posted September 23, 2020 Share #3  Posted September 23, 2020 (edited) I think they were wanting to see the difference in f1.25 and f2...So, the .75 is the difference. but I think you're right, the Noct's at 12K can be hard to justify. Pick up a used one in mint cond. for 6K and that's a different story. But, I think It's a big difference...Wish I had both to compare, I have the 75SL, it's an amazing lens, but it's still an f2, which is perfect for 1/2 body and tight portraits. But alas, it will never be faster. I always want the fastest lens, as, at least in the Leica world, they are more versatile....Sorry, no help with the different rendering, just my opinion on aperture. Flou Posted September 25, 2020 Share #4  Posted September 25, 2020 Never tried the Noctilux but I have the 75Mm SL at home and it is a wonderful lens. Beautiful bokeh and 2.0 is fast enough for me. The seperation from focus to non-Focus area is great, sometimes ist looks like 1.4 from the shallow depth of field and the 3D Pop. The question is, if the wide aperture is a benefit or not. Never needed more than 2.
