I think they were wanting to see the difference in f1.25 and f2...So, the .75 is the difference. but I think you're right, the Noct's at 12K can be hard to justify. Pick up a used one in mint cond. for 6K and that's a different story. :)

But, I think It's a big difference...Wish I had both to compare, I have the 75SL, it's an amazing lens, but it's still an f2, which is perfect for 1/2 body and tight portraits. But alas, it will never be faster. I always want the fastest lens, as, at least in the Leica world, they are more versatile....Sorry, no help with the different rendering, just my opinion on aperture. :)

Never tried the Noctilux but I have the 75Mm SL at home and it is a wonderful lens. Beautiful bokeh and 2.0 is fast enough for me. The seperation from focus to non-Focus area is great, sometimes ist looks like 1.4 from the shallow depth of field and the 3D Pop. The question is, if the wide aperture is a benefit or not. Never needed more than 2.0 :)
