Leica IIIf Tripod Thread

Hi There,

I'm in the process of making a leather half-case for my Leica IIIf. I read that the tripod thread that the IIIf's use is 3/8 so I decided to purchase a 1/4 female to 3/8 male adapter for the leather case tripod mount. 

When I tried to screw the 3/8 male end to the camera, the screw is too big. When I tried screw a 1/4 male to the camera, the tripod is a bit loose and it jiggles. 

Is anyone aware of the correct male thread size for a Leica IIIf?
