lenspeeper Posted August 14, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted August 14, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just acquired a pristine Leica SL and while waiting for my L mount lens, I have been shooting with my M mount lenses. In setting up the menu, I was unable to find a choice for monochrome or B&W like I have on my M240 and CL. Is there an option for out of camera B&W, or must I rely only on post processing in LR, PS or Capture One, et al? If there is such an option, where do I find it? Advertisement Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 Hi lenspeeper, Take a look here Leica SL out of Camera B&W?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
RoySmith Posted August 14, 2020 Share #2  Posted August 14, 2020 Raw DNG files are always color, but JPEG images can be saved in B&W. In the IMAGE part of the menu select JPEG Settings>Saturation>Monochrome. you’ll have to save images as DNG+JPEG or JPEG alone Enjoy your new camera.
lenspeeper Posted August 14, 2020 Author Share #3  Posted August 14, 2020 (edited) I know that RAW contains all of the information and  therefore always color. Thanks for helping me with this new menu and where to find monochrome. When I feel that a scene may be better in mono, I like to view it as such in order to judge before I shoot. I really do appreciate the help. As for the camera, it is the most amazing one I have ever handled and now I am considering selling off the M240; and leaving digital RF's for good. It's all I have used since my very first one; the M8. My  M mount lenses + the M-Adapterr T work very well and the SL's EVF is a real pleasure. And the AF is the quickest ever. Thanks for the help.
