frankpetronio Posted August 17, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted August 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had various Minolta and Nikon 35mm film scanners in the past but everytime I give up on 35mm I sell them... Now I am thinking about 35mm film again... Â So, at an easy $300-$600 price range, what should I be looking for? Â Quality trumps speed, but the user interface is probably the most important thing I think. Â And I use a Mac if it matters.
Advertisement Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Hi frankpetronio, Take a look here Best Budget 35mm Scanner in 2007?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted August 17, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted August 17, 2007 Frank, you've had more experience in the matter than I, so perhaps I shouldn't speak up here, but Mike Johnston of The Online Photographer recently purchased an Epson V700. It's a flatbed scanner that apparently also does a very good job for film scans, though not as good as a dedicated film scanner. Â Pity Minolta is gone! Â And welcome to the forum, by the way! chanyr Posted August 18, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted August 18, 2007 Consider the Nikon Coolscan V ED.
pleeson Posted August 19, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted August 19, 2007 I use the Nikons, with VueScan. Previously had a Coolscan IV, now a Coolscan 9000. If you'll never need MF capabilities, the V is the one to pick in your price range.
