kikohawaii Posted August 11, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) New to the site, I would like to know when my MP was made, # 3511018 silver. The vulcanite is not like the regular MP but is like the old M3. I bought it on eBay from Japan. Thank you.
Advertisement Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Hi kikohawaii, Take a look here Question about my MP. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andrew01 Posted August 11, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2020 It is possibly an a la carte version. I think these could be ordered with different vulcanite patterns. Alternatively the camera could of been recovered with aki-asahi 4008 replacement leatherette which looks identical to the M3 vulcanite. Regarding dates, the published serial number databases I could find finish before your number so it is likely to be relatively recent production, perhaps around 2010? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/MP
kikohawaii Posted August 12, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted August 12, 2020 I don't know if its an ala carte version, I received it in its original silver box with all the original paperworks, registration card, a Barnack Club maybe membership application. All the paperworks are in Japanese which I don't understand. There is a piece of paper like a receipt with a 2009 and the camera's serial number printed on it, might be the year make of the camera. Does the ala carte version come in a special box? My box is just the silver generic box with the serial no. of the MP on the bottom. The vulcanite looks factory to me. Thanks for your help. The list that I have shows that 3511018 is a MP made in 2008.
