Hello from Las Vegas where we are currently sweltering in a typical desert summer.  I'm new to Leica and still trying to wade through all the products and their history.  Funny thing about reading reviews for all the different models -- there are good ones and not-so-good ones, and it's a little confusing at first, but I'm getting there.

I'm a long-time Hasselblad shooter and currently use an X1D-50c as my main camera.  I love medium format.  I also use (occasionally) a 503CX with Zeiss glass, but it's a load to lug around and forget about travelling with it.  I was looking for a smallish 35mm film camera for travelling and after looking at what seemed like 1,000 different things I settled on an R6 and a 35-70 Vario-Elmar-R 3 cam f/3.5.   Both the camera & lens are in excellent shape and the price was right, so considering my limited knowledge of Leica, it seemed like a good place to start.  I've always liked Leica for the image quality and didn't want to settle for something I knew I wouldn't be happy with.

Where it goes from here, who knows?  I'm looking to learn a little more and down the road an upgrade may be in order if necessary, at least maybe another lens or two.  Next week we're going up to Jackson Hole to do a photo shoot at Grand Teton & Yellowstone, so that should be a good evaluation to see how it does.  I'll be using the Hasselblad X1D for digital and the R6 for film.  It seems like a little bit of a conflict, having both a Hasselblad & Leica in the bag, but it is what it is.  Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!  Yes, I remember traveling to LV in August.  It was not a pleasant experience.  No humidity but heat is still heat and it was hot.  I rented an X1D-50c several times and found it to be an awesome camera.  I am jealous of your travels to Jackson Wyoming and West Yellowstone MT.   I used to go out every year in the summer and ride ATV's through the national forests.  Got my box lunch at Ernie's every morning and I was set for the day.  Happy memories and would love to continue the adventures sometime.
