rpsawin Posted August 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a +3 Diopter I use on all my M film bodies and an M8. I tried to screw in this diopter onto my M (typ 262) and it seems to be too small. In any case it does not fit. I've not seen anything indicating Leica changed the viewfinder until the M10 body. Does anyone have information on what might be the issue? Thanks in advance, Bob

arichter Posted August 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 9, 2020 I use a -0.5 diopter and it fits both my M3 and M262 just fine. This is my second one though as I lost the first one.
rpsawin Posted August 14, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted August 14, 2020 I sent this to Leica re: Diopter Issue: To: Technical Info <TechnicalInfo@leicacamerausa.com> Subject: M (typ 262) Diopter Issue To whom it may concern, I have a Leica +3 diopter I have been using on my film M bodies and my M8 body and it fits fine. I attempted to use it on my M (typ 262) body and it does not fit. It appears too small and will not screw into the eyepiece. Has the M (typ 262) eyepiece changed? If so what is the work around necessary for the diopter to fit? Thank you in advance for your time. Sincerely, Robert P. Sawin And received this reply: Hello Robert, I don’t know why you have run into this issue. The eyepiece of the M10 camera was increased in size and requires a different, larger set of diopters, but the eyepiece of the M 262 is the same as the M 240. If close to a Leica store I'd take the camera in and test if a different diopter could be mounted. My concern would be that the threads on your camera are damaged. rpsawin Posted August 14, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted August 14, 2020 Thanks Marchyman. I'm not close to a Leica store but next trip into an area that has one I'll do that.
