50 Cron DR M on SL2

Odd question I know but will a 50 Summicron DR M lens with goggles fit on the SL2 with M to L adaptor or only sans goggles? I don't own a SL2 but was contemplating getting one. Thank you.

Why not go with an M10 if you want to shoot manual focus.

I already own a M10. Looking to potentially get an SL2 for IBIS with some longer R glass (and perhaps a native SL lens or two) but was curious on SL compatibility of my existing M glass inventory.

It should fit just fine if you remove the goggles

you can keep googles on or off, the M adapter gives you enough space to attach to SL2.

It looks a little crazy.

I would just get a 3rd party adapter with little macro adapter , this way you can go close if you want to without needing to attach googles and be able to turn more.

the 50 DR does not have 6bit coding so there is no applied lens correction to the DMG anyway. but you still keep IBIS working

Granted it will look a bit odd, was just curious. So, sans native 6-bit coding, if you manually set lens detect as newer 50/2 you will get IBIS but not lens profiling in EXIF?

Also, on the theme of adapted lenses, is there a lens profile in the SL2 for a 6-bit coded Summaron-M 28 (I like “character lenses”). Secondly, for non-ROM (e.g. 3-can) R lenses, is the preferred approach to stack an R to M and M to L adapter or to use the R to L adapter? I get the impression the R to L is designed only for ROM lenses?

in camera you can select from a list of 6bit lenses that will give you the option to select a 50mm for IBIS to work, lens correction can be applied in Post production.

If you put a 6bit lens on the original M to L adapter the camera detects the lens and sets some correction into your DMG and JPG.

Not so - works fine with non-ROM lenses.  The only obvious difference is that you have to tell the camera which lens you mounted via the menus.

You will get both IBIS and lens profiling, I just took some test shoots and for an uncoded v4 50 Summicron the difference is quite notable with and without a profile set.

The SL2 recognises the new 28 Summaron but for some reason I don't see any difference in the image if I manually turn off the lens profile, maybe that is intended for this lens.

Thank you for the confirmation on the 50mm and yes, I assume the Summaron is meant to maintain heavy vignetting and other imperfections in the corners given that is the "look" one is usually going for with that type of lens. Thank you again.
