Dear SL2 users,

I would like to know how the AF priority behaves in real life.

If the AF method is set to "Face/Body Detection", it is still possible to intervene directly with the Touch AF (higher priority than Face/Body Detection), so that I can quickly select a focus area (field or zone), e.g. if I don't want to focus on a face but somewhere else - or do I have to switch the AF method first to Field or Zone first (which won't be elegant due to more fumbling).

Or are there any other practical experiences to switch immediately from "Face/Body Detection" to a focus field in real time to get a snap-shot?

I'm used to being able to intervene at any time via the touch display of a Canon EOS R, despite face and eye recognition, whereby my touch on the display then has a higher priority than the face recognition.

Which leads me to the next question. Is it correct that when Touch AF EVF mode is on, even when looking through the viewfinder, I can move the focus point (swipe) with my finger on the screen (as is the case with Canon or Fujifilm mirrorless cameras, for example)? Is this useful in practice as I didn't find any information about the possibility of a "drag area" (e.g. left or right area) on the LCD display ?

I appreciate your experience.

Why would you want to let the camera select and autofocus on a face and decide to select another point?
The face recognition is useful when there is human movement and you are out to shoot on Continuous shots. Using touch for those situations will not work well so I cannot see why are you asking for both AF selection to function together.

Again for still portrait shots, face recognition has no value and MF even works better at times when shallow DOF is required. Just select ‘spot focus’, set to MF and use the joystick to activate AF function. I don’t find touch AF much useful unless camera is mounted on tripod.
