dhewn Posted July 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, long time admirer/lurker here! I just pulled the trigger on a 28mm summilux for my M9 and was considering a Minolta CLE as an affordable film option with its auto-exposure capability. I have a strange predilection for large lenses on small bodies Does anyone know if such a wide lens would block the rangefinder patch of the Minolta CLE? I found a site that was helpful in listing some compatible lenses, unfortunately, it doesn't include recent lenses such as the 28mm summilux: http://www.dmin-dmax.fr/photoe2cleo.htm It appears that the 28mm summilux has a largest diameter of 61mm, and I'm guessing the hood could also block the rangefinder patch. When I had a Leica CL, I was able to focus with the 75mm summilux with its diameter of 69mm (a bizarre combination I know!) but not with the 50mm noctilux (largest diameter 73mm). And it appears that the Leica CL was functional with the brilliant ZM 35 1.4 distagon with the hood, no less (max diameter 63.2mm) according to this review: https://www.thephoblographer.com/2017/03/28/review-zeiss-35mm-f1-4-zm-leica-m-mount/ Very much appreciate your help and experience. May all your rangefinder patches remain clear and unobscured! Daniel
