LeonD Posted July 3, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) After going round and round for the last few years using different cameras (including a Leica Q), I decided it’s time to settle down and stick with one. For various reasons, I ended up with a Leica Q2. I really liked the Q’s usability and it’s limitations were helping me be a better photographer. And after I found a used Q2 at B&H (for what I thought was an amazing price), it was delivered yesterday. As I’m way deep into the honeymoon phase, no reports, impressions or pics at this point. But I do have a couple of usability questions that I could use some help with. The shutter sound. I must be doing something wrong because it is nearly inaudible. I have Electronic Shutter set to Extended; Acoustic Signal - Volume set to High and Acoustic Signal - Electronic Shutter Sound set to On. All I just barely hear is a weak click. Am I missing something or is that how it’s supposed to be? Zoom/Lock Button. My Zoom/Lock Button is nearly flush with the camera making very difficult to press in. I was planning on using this for AF-L but not sure if I can with it being this hard to push in. Is this normal on other Q2’s? Also, does Leica’s Thumb Support make it any easier to push the Zoom/Lock Button in? [As an aside, kudos to Leica for redoing AF-L from the Q. When I push it in, the camera focuses and then locks the setting without having to hold the button down. They are two thirds of the way there. It should not reset after each picture. The point of AF-L is to focus and recompose. I would think, once the image is recomposed, you’d take multiple pictures. Having to keep locking focus after each picture makes AF-L unusable. It would be better to just manually focus. Does Leica have any place to make requests?] Exposure Bracketing mode. My goal is to assign Exposure Bracketing to a single button. I cannot figure out how to do this. I can put Exposure Bracketing in the FN Button or Right Wheel Button menu and use this to turn on Exposure Bracketing. My problem is that I can’t turn it off and get back to single shot mode. I can also put Drive Mode in either the FN Button or Right Wheel Button menus but the problem with this is Single Shot and Exposure Bracketing are at the two opposite ends of the list. To go back and forth in the list every time I need Exposure Bracketing is not very efficient. For now, I’ve assigned a profile for Exposure Bracketing and placed it near my default profile on the profile list. I can access this from the first menu screen and because they are next to each other, can select one with a single tap. But, am I missing a way to turn Exposure Bracketing on and off with a single button press? Thanks in advance for any help.

WeiterWinkel Posted July 4, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2020 I don‘t want to disturb your honeymoon, let me just assure you, there is nothing wrong with your shutter. It‘s exactly as quiet, as you describe it 😀. Have fun with the Q2 and this forum, Cheers, Thomas
LeonD Posted July 4, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted July 4, 2020 Thanks for the confirmation, Thomas. One of he things the Q2 has going for it is it's "fun factor". It's just so enjoyable taking pics with this camera. 1
