Hi all,

I noticed this yesterday. It seems that a piece of glass (THE piece of glass/crystal) in/behind the small rangefinder window of my M5 is moving around. This happens if the camera isn’t always kept level I.e. if I try to photograph in portrait or instead of keeping the lens level with the horizon, I point it upwards some. I’ve attached images of that I mean. When the glass moves, I have to tap along the side of the body to get it to move back down. Is this a major breakage in my camera? How did this happen?! There are no bumps or marks on the camera at all...

Occasionally the patch doesn’t show the second image and I check the window and the class has moved. I tap the bottom of the camera (relatively hard) and the glass moved down and the second image appears.

Hi Jodad

I am no expert, but that could be the light shield in front of the rangefinder. On an M3 this is part number 42-253.17-41, not sure what part number it is on an M5. If so, then it should be repairable fairly easily, but again, I’m no expert!
