Hello,

I’m having some issues with my Leica Q focus. For some reason I can’t make it focus on everything especially in the macro mode. I made some changes and I changed the AF mode to “multi point” but still it doesn’t focus on everything. I make beauty content and i need it to focus on the makeup especially when i do close ups. Can someone help me with figuring this out?

thank you.

I’m unsure exactly what you’re seeing. I do macro photography a lot. I use a single field and move that around as needed depending if I’m handheld or on a tripod. In macro mode the camera will focus as close as 7” as I remember.

First, are you in AF mode or is the lens set for MF mode. That’s the little tab on the focusing finger piece on the lens.

Do you get a green or a red rectangle when the shutter is half pressed?

It’s on the AF mode. And no I don’t get a red/green rectangle

Okay. First thing I’d cycle the little tab on the lens Put it in Manual focus. See if that works okay. Then carefully move the tab back to AF. Make sure it clicks in place. Sometimes it can almost be there and the camera won’t register it’s in AF. You must get a green rectangle when it’s locked on focus in AF.

Does the green rectangle appear when not in macro mode and in AF locked on a subject?

Yes thank you so much for your help!

You’re very welcome. Glad it worked out. Enjoy your great camera. If you’re doing macro, consider buying a close up filter such as Hoya or Murami. Both are equivalent and allow a bit closer focus. Soft around the edges, but fine if you crop. Both are 5X power. I actually put two together for photographing flowers and bugs. Check out the macro thread. You’ll see many of my images.
Regards,

Dan
