Paul_S Posted August 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Don't know if there are any Photo Mechanic users here. Last week v4.5.2 was released and rendering of M8 DNG was announced as one of the improvements (for Mac version). I am using OS X 10.4.10, which is a requirement for M8 DNG rendering. However, my experience so far does show a change over the previous version, but PM is still not able to render the image from DNG. Like to hear your experience. hdrmd Posted August 14, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2007 I have long used PM My new upgrade( 4.5.2) renders the DNG much better than the older version. I am not sure why you are having problems. Regards. DR
Skippy Sanchez Posted August 14, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 14, 2007 i'm using PM 4.4.2 and although only the jpgs show in the thumbnails, the DNG will open in camera raw.

hdrmd Posted August 14, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 14, 2007 Paul: I use MAC and when I double click, I have PM set to send the file to Photoshop where it opens as a raw file(ACR). I use the magnifying glass icon in the lower right hand corner to open the thumbnail into the larger preview. This preview is much better than the old imbedded smaller preview. I don't know if this new preview is a larger imbedded file, but it is much sharper than the old preview. Regards. DR

Thanks again David, much appreciated. Your description is exactly how it should be. PM 4.5.2/Mac now uses OS X 10.4 ImageIO for rendering the raw image to a preview (like Aperture and iPhoto does too). It relies on OS X and 10.4.10 is needed for rendering M8 DNG. For some reason it does not work like that on both my Macs (G5 and C2D). Well, maybe one day I find out. Thanks again for sharing.
