If your have modern computer that supports H.265 hardware en/decoding the performance difference on editing is negligabe. Therefore, H.265 provides at least the advantage of smaller file sizes and some other benefits. The future is internal RAW video recording anyway, albeit with big file sizes and flexibility (just like raw for photo). Check out the recent release of the SD card assosiations: 4GB/s transfer speeds will be possible, so a future SL3 in 4 years could easily offer internal raw recoding (e.g. ProResRaw). This is nice, because the limitation is actually just the card write speeds and not the signal processing as this is transferred to the computer editing part with ProRes Raw. The future is certainly bright on that front and I am looking forward to that. - DSLR-type cameras for run & gun video ARE the future, not for everyone but for more and more people. The form factor is just super convenient and most people want a tool for photos, too. IBIS makes tripods/mono-pods redundend and this is how video is evolving. Reliable autofocus is just a must and cameras need at least offer the same amount of quality regarding ease of use than your iphone in your pocket. That is why the Canon R is quite popular despite its underwhelming specs: Dual-AF does the trick! - Full frame vs. APS-C: Clearly, the whole movie industry moves on to 35 mm sensors (see latest releases from the cinema industry, Arri, Red, Sony, etc.). It is also clearly stated in the interview „customers with a 35 mm camera want to shoot videos in the full format, not crop.
