J Peterman Posted September 9, 2022 Share #61  Posted September 9, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) From my research: Late German/Titanium for more modern coatings and less glow. Early V2 Canadian (brass or aluminum infinity lock) for sharpness wide open still with plenty of glow. Later Canadian for lots of glow. Steel rim if having only one kidney is compatible with your lifestyle. I was lucky to find an infinity lock V2 for a steal and it is outstanding!

I will be using it on M10R BP and M10M.  Would love to get some pointers, as the pre-asph 35Lux seems to be a jungle. The above comments are consistent with what I’ve read.  There’s something for everyone here   I’d just add that I’ve not experienced any unruly flare issues at all with 2 Germany copies (one of mine is titanium body, the other standard black - we can assume exactly same glass and coating in both).  Before buying I heard about an unpredictability about these lenses but I didn’t find that at all.  That ‘may’ say something about the updates coatings on the Germany copies.  But there is always a trade off and I suspect the character of the lens wide open may also be tamed a touch on the German ones.  Needless to say you can’t really go wrong with a good copy of any variation !  Mine is probably my sharpest lens stopped down (not to the corners though as Wizard pointed out) and for me it’s not at all lacking it’s signature wide open or close to .  I can appreciate earlier copies probably show more though.  Hope this helps. I’ve posted many pics on both of the dedicated the 35mm pre-asph threads    Edited September 9, 2022 by grahamc
