What is ur valuable opinion on the use of the Leica R 80-200 mm f/4 ROM lens with EF adapter for using as cine lens? Also I was offered a price of 1499 euro for a mint condition Leica later series 397xxxx ,is it worth?, please reply, regards ashok

Is this a ROM lens, or has it been converted to Canon EF mount? If it has been converted (probably with a Leitax kit), you need to make sure that the original mount is included so that you can convert it back in the future.

The lens itself should be fine for video, as long as you aren't bothered by manual focus, and you use it on a tripod (as you would any non-stabilized telephoto lens). One advantage of the design is that zoom and focus are on different rings, so you won't accidentally change the zoom level when you focus.

Thanks, it's a ROM lens with Leica mount,is it worth for a mint latest series 39xxxxx MINT condition for 1499 euro? When compared to canon 70  -200 mm f2.8 usm mark 2, which is overall better for cinimatography?

In that case you will need an R mount, not an EF mount. You can use the cheaper Novoflex mount if you don't plan to use IBIS (in-body image stabilization). The more expensive Leica R-Adapter L should pass-on your focal length to the body (other can confirm).

Maybe I misunderstood you, and you plan to use the lens on a Canon camera, in which case you need a different adapter (R-to-EF)

I won't comment on the price, it really depends on condition, your relationship with the dealer, warranty (if any), shipping/customs, etc.

What style of cinematography do you do, and what L-mount camera do you use? The Leica lens is all-manual, which is an advantage for some video work, but not if your workflow depends on AF.

Thanks,iam planning to shoot on my black magic Ursa mini pro 4.6 k camera which is EF mount, and I prefer manual focusing, and I am planning to buy a letix adapter to fix this Leica lens on this EF mount camera, and regarding the price,I seller is not familiar me , it's was seen on eBay, but he has excellent profile value on eBay,so this price of 1499 euro is worth for a mint condition lens? early reply expected regards ashok

Have you checked online Leica specialists? I had a quick look at ffordes in Scotland, and leicashop in Austria. They both have ROM versions available at lower prices. I don't know where you are located, I assume it's Europe since you mentioned a price in Euros. There are a lot of well-respected Leica specialists all over the world, it may be better for you to find one that is more local to you.
