I know that this camera in not meant to shoot high end videos but I have a few questions about the cine mode:

What is the max. recording length of the video ? ( I believe that on the original Q was about 20min)

The 4k video file I have seen around are really nice but I was wondering if this change when using the 35mm or 50mm crop mode.

Would you ever consider the Q2 as a B camera  to the SL2 for serious video shooting.

Thanks a lot

Yours

Ettore

It depend what you wanna film with the Q2.
The videos are really nice, great colors and a magnificant lens make that happen.
But the fixed lenght, the lack of a good/reliable tracking focus makes her not a good choice for serius video work.
But for WA (landscape) video with no or slow moving scenes the Q2 can make fantastic videos and using hyperfocal distance moving objects may work too.
Beside pro grade cameras, the king of the videos is still Canon DSLR's or the fantastic Panasonig GH4/5
Or then a dedicated video camera, soem non pro Sony videocameras are still the King while for pro grade, Panasonic is cheaper and same or better quality.

You may rent one for a week and do some tests to see if the 5K you hand over are giving you the results you wish

That was was a question I wondered nefore buying it 2 months ago. I don't understand why it is not adressed in the manual.

I asked the seller at the store when trying the Q2,  he didn't know, looked online as I did and found nothing. He then told me he would ask Leica directly and would let me know, I never heard of him.

Anyway as soon as I bought it I recorded a clip in 4K 30fps and at 30min it was still recording and I stopped it. I don't know the limit but it's quite enough for me, the Q2 was barely warm so it seems as long as you have the space on the SD card it keeps running. That is a big advantage of this camera, and I don't understand they don't publicies it. The 10min limit and overheating prevented me to buy a X100V.

I got it just before the lockdown so I didn't test it seriously, but it seems good up to 50mm, 75mm seems less defined (but certainly usable).

Agree with you - 28mm, 35mm look good and 50mm looks just fine - forget the 75mm crop though.
