Regarding the Q2, why cannot focus locking on a specific part of the intended image be activated by the initial press on the shutter release.  Most important for flower photography whilst trying to get limited depth of field.  That's how my Panasonic/Leica D-LUX 6 works.  Much easier than holding your thumb on a button whilst pressing the shutter release.  Could this be included in the next software update...

It could. It’s just not how Leica chose to implement focus lock. I use back button focusing on my Canon 5D3 in servo mode. It focuses while the button is pushed. It locks focus when the button is released and holds that for initiating a shutter. Very straightforward and easy to use.

I gave up on trying anything like this on the Q2. I do enjoy MF on the Q2

Thank you for your kind comment.  Perhaps Leica will revise the software for we flower photographers or perhaps they wont.  We'll have to wait and see but if it functions on the 5D3 then there should be no reason why it shouldn't on a Q2.

I love doing flower macro photography. A big improvement in sw V2.0 is having the manual focus point moveable. Before it always focused to the center. 👏👏

The next thing I’d like to see is the FOTOS app not doing AF even when the camera is clearly in MF mode. It’s VERY annoying. and pretty much negates using FOTOS and Manual Focus.

You don’t have to hold your thumb down, at least as of Firmware v2. If you set the crop button to AF-L, it’s a toggle. You press it once to lock, and let go. Focus stays locked until you press it again, or press the shutter release, or turn the camera off. It’s an additional button, I know, but at least you don’t have to hold it down.
