innerimager Posted August 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Based on a discussion here I tried a few rolls. I think it has a place for sure. I like the way it works with the 75 lux as in this example. best....Peter
Advertisement Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Hi innerimager, Take a look here Rollei Scanfilm . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
J J Kapsberger Posted August 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2007 Lots of noise. Is that a cropped section of a small part of the whole image?
Photoskeptic Posted August 10, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2007 Peter, which Rollei? Looks fast with all the grain. Actually too much grain for me but everyone has different tastes in grain. For me grain works better in bw.
innerimager Posted August 10, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted August 10, 2007 Responding to both. It's 400, and yes, quite grainy. I've been using mostly XP2, the grainless wonder, so the difference is quite striking. It's a partial crop, about 1/3 of the image is cropped away. best...Peter
mcvr Posted August 11, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2007 As it is out of stock everywhere in Germany I had not had a chance to try out for myself. However, I talked to a guy from the distributor/producer of the film and he let me know that with the next lot which they will produce there will only be ISO200 films available - the film will basically stay the same though. The new name will be something like Rollei Digibase 200 and should be produced within the next weeks.

I haven't been enjoying color photography since the discontinuation of my favorite film, Ektachrome 1600. It looks like the Scanfilm's signature is similar so I'll have to give it a try. Timothy P.S. From what I've read after a couple minutes googling, this film is archival due to its polyester base. In my mind, the only disadvantage of polyester is that you have to load it in subdued lighting if you want to use the first couple frames.
fotohuis Posted August 11, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, you have to load and unload the 35mm version in subdue light due to the fact the clear PET base can give some 'light piping' effects. This (prototype) Rollei film will be replaced by an iso 200 version with less grain. Further with the same C41 characteristics. innerimager Posted August 13, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted August 13, 2007 here's another. I learned a bit about color scanning and controlled the grain/noise better....Peter
