Guest Essemmlee Posted August 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anybody help. It was working, now it isn't. I can get the pix off the camera by direct USB connection but the reader seems to have ground to a halt. I've heard it might be a software clash - does anyone have a similar experience? carstenw Posted August 9, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 9, 2007 I have problems with my reader from time to time, a SanDisk Imagemate SD reader. I buy the SanDisk Ultra II cards with a built-in USB plug, so when things go south, I still have another way. I am planning to replace the reader with something more stable. Funny, that was what I thought I was getting when I bought the SanDisk reader, since the cards have been solid...
scottv Posted August 9, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 9, 2007 I have an issue of variable speeds on downloading from card reader and camera. Seems to be about 10BM/30sec. However if I download immeadiately on start up the download speed is 10MB/1 sec. I'm running OS X 10.4.10 on intel mac and have reinstalled from 10.4.6 to try and fix the issue and updated through to current version of OS X but to no avail. I have concluded it is a software conflict, perhaps with the intel chip, rosetta etc... Have looked for fixes online but nothing I can find. Using SanDisk 2 GB Ultra II and Silicon Power 2GB 80x cards Am I missing something obvious? Scott
dojuve Posted August 9, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 9, 2007 i made a similar experience (using Lexar Pro 2GB cards, a no-name card reader on OS X 10.4.10). what i found out is that the card reader works fine as long as there is not more than 1 GB on the card. if there is more data on the card, then OS X crashes completeley. i am blaming the card reader (due to lack of another explanation), and plan to replace it eventually. rgds, bernhard
gareth_c Posted August 9, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 9, 2007 I buy the SanDisk Ultra II cards with a built-in USB plug, so when things go south, I still have another way. Seconded. Use mine all the time and they are folded and unfolded several times a day (even use one as a standard USB stick) and I have had no problems at all.
