Albert4321 Posted August 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My new M8 chrome and 50 lux chrome arrived today. The M8 is front focus, 50 lux is back focus, two wrong make a right? just kidding. below pic taken with the my combo wide open at the closest distance. Some contrast ad. and shpn. Question is: the EXIF show no f-stop info. Max f-stop is 1. Is this something wrong with my setting?

psquared Posted August 9, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 9, 2007 Nice picture. Congratulations! The EXIF info is normal. I gather your lens is not coded? The camera does not know what the lens is or what the maximum aperture is if the lens is not coded. Also, even if the lens were coded, the camera does not know the aperture you've set on the lens. Well I am running v. 1.102 but my coded lenses do not show any f-stops in the EXIF files—and working apertures are not recorded by design, says Ma Leica. This is normal. psquared Posted August 9, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My 50lux is brand new coded lens. I guess I am not the only one has this "feature". Interesting. The focal length and max aperture info come up correctly on my EXIFs. I convert from DNG to tiff using C1. When you review your image on the camera and press the info button, does it say which lens you're using? If it does, maybe it's the raw converter, whether in-camera or not, that's not writing the EXIF info correctly.
cocker Posted August 9, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 9, 2007 Why do we expect technology to be reliable? My M8 EXIF sometimes gives duff information but the pictures are great. That's the point isn't it?
