carstenw Posted August 8, 2007 Share #21 Posted August 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jeepers, you're always so ambiguous Guy! Never sure whether you mean "yes" or "no". I'm convinced already. I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs until it's time to leave for the store (in about an hour). I wasn't quite prepared for the overwhelmingly positive response. But all these positives from people who know what they're talking about gives me the not-so-subtle impression that I'd better get on it right away. I suppose I could go to the store early and sit forlornly by the door until it opens ... What about walking slowly there, framing 75mm shots in your mind which you will take on the way back? Kent10D Posted August 8, 2007 Author Share #22 Posted August 8, 2007 Right, I'm going to sleep before any other dicturbing images give me nightmares! Let's hope we all make it through to the morning unscathed. "dicturbing"? Either that was intentional, or the coolest Freudian slip I've heard in ages! gareth_c Posted August 8, 2007 Share #23 Posted August 8, 2007 "dicturbing"?Either that was intentional, or the coolest Freudian slip I've heard in ages! Oops. Will call a therapist tomorrow. In the meantime, let me tell you about my mother, are you sitting comfortably? ... ... .......

Kent10D Posted August 8, 2007 Author Share #26 Posted August 8, 2007 What about walking slowly there, framing 75mm shots in your mind which you will take on the way back? But Carsten, that would require "imagination." If I had that I'd be taking better pictures rather than buying more gear!

innerimager Posted August 9, 2007 Share #28 Posted August 9, 2007 Peter we need group therapy i think. LOL a speciality of mine, Guy. Especially if the theme is something that I need as much as all the other group members, in this case attaining freedom form lens guilt. best....Peter

tbarker13 Posted August 9, 2007 Share #31 Posted August 9, 2007 I hope you were able to grab the thing before someone else does. Mine has quickly found a place on very short list of lenses I will not sell. (It joins a CV15 on that list) It's weight certainly makes it a load to lug around - so it may not be a constant passenger in your camera bag. But there is a lot of potential for you to love this lens.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted August 9, 2007 Share #32 Posted August 9, 2007 Now being a Lux freak one needs to look at this http://www.leicagoodies.com/ Look for the Steer, i have one on my 75 lux and it really helps with focusing.

Kent10D Posted August 9, 2007 Author Share #35 Posted August 9, 2007 Got it! Snagged the little devil with no problem. Even got a teeny discount. No UV/IR filter yet, but I popped into Yodobashi and ordered one on the way home (seems as though B+W doesn't have 60 mm filters, so it'll have to be a Leica ... could be a long wait). It does seem to backfocus a bit, and now I have to determine whether that's a camera-adjustment issue that shows up with this lens because of the extremely narrow DOF (and you guys weren't kidding aabout the DOF, were you!), or an eyeball adjustment issue with yours truly. guidomo Posted August 9, 2007 Share #36 Posted August 9, 2007 Congrats on an excellent deal. It's a great lens and although it's heavy it's almost always in my bag.

carstenw Posted August 9, 2007 Share #38 Posted August 9, 2007 B+W does have 60mm filter. Black, chrome and slim. The latter comes with its own lens cap. I have one.
Kent10D Posted August 9, 2007 Author Share #39 Posted August 9, 2007 B+W does have 60mm filter. Black, chrome and slim. The latter comes with its own lens cap. I have one. Oh. Figures. Maybe they just don't import them into Japan. The guy at Yodobashi checked with the importer for me today. Anyway, I suppose after all the excitement I should at least post a pic of the new lens and a couple of samples! Coming up in the next message. Kent10D Posted August 9, 2007 Author Share #40 Posted August 9, 2007 So, here she is! Followed by a couple of quick samples, the first at f/1.4 and the second at f/8. Just some bric-a-brac assembled for the shot. Focus on the fish nose, with a distance of about 22 centimeters between the fish nose and the front of the floral vase in the rear. Quick lighting setup, questionable WB ... but remember, this ain't art. No sharpening. Just a slight saturation push. Look "luxish" enough? I'm happy, and looking forward to taking some pics outdoors with filters! Welcome, dear visitor!
