NRKstudio Posted February 22, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone seen or tried to compare these two? I need an AF portrait prime and have to make the call here. The 75 SL is nice but too close to my 50 SL. The 85 is one of the sharper Art lenses too, so the 90 SL has a serious contender here. Advertisement Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Hi NRKstudio, Take a look here Sigma 85/1.4 Art vs 90/2 Summicron SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michali Posted February 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2020 (edited) Have you also considered the Sigma 135mm f1.8 ART lens? I was initially also looking at the Sigma 85mm and ended up purchasing the Sigma 135mm, its FL is far enough away from my 50mm, 75mm & 90mm lenses. Excellent IQ and a useful medium tele lens! There's no discernible difference in either AFS or AFC speed, between this lens and my Leica L mount lenses. I've tested it in both focus modes and continuous drive mode as well. It is a native L mount lens, so I wouldn't have expected otherwise. Edited February 22, 2020 by michali
Ivar B Posted February 24, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 24, 2020 I have not compared these two lenses as I only have the Sigma Art 1.4/85mm. Optical performance is absolutely superb and autofocus speed is very good on both Leica SL and Panasonic S1R. I have read reviews stating that the Sigma Art 85mm is on par with the Zeiss Otus 1.4/85mm. I should think that the Leica lens (being 4 x as expensive) must be performing on an even higher level, but the difference cannot possibly be large. I am sure that the Sigma lens will satisfy 99.5 % of all users. 1
