LeicaRoy Posted February 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All. I have a problem with my precious Q-P that started today. When I open the latch on the battery/memory card door, the door does not spring open, and I have to lever it open with finger nail. The spring is still attached, and seems to work. Just that the door seems to catch on the body now ( as of today!). Has anyone else had this problem. Thanks Roy
Advertisement Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Hi LeicaRoy, Take a look here Leica Q-P: battery/SD card door sticking. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LexS Posted February 15, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2020 Can you remove the battery (does it "jump"out), and also the memory card (press with nail then let it jump out too)? Look at the small shifter on the memory card: is it fully to the write side?
LeicaRoy Posted February 15, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted February 15, 2020 Battery and memory card "jump" out as normal, and shifter is properly as above. Thanks
Leica Guy Posted February 15, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2020 I would look at the hinge and the door perimeter very carefully with a strong light and ideally a magnifier to see if you can discover any debris inhibiting operation. I bought one of these from Amazon just for such a general purpose. The technician at the Apple store used one to discover debris on the connector on my iPhone. That’s where I got the idea. sskim Posted February 15, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2020 My Q-P which I bought new last year also exhibits the same. I need to give a slight nudge on the unlock lever then it springs open.

That seems unusual to me. It make be the way it was built, but I’d also ensure there is nothing pushing it out of alignment. It worked before. What is different? Maybe it’s worn? LeicaRoy Posted February 15, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted February 15, 2020 Thanks for all the ideas. It is strange - it looks like the door is slightly misaligned, but nothing has happened to it. It was fine, then not..... The camera is not very old - Q-P only come out late 2018. Guess I will take it into Leica for their help Thanks again to the community here

The battery door on my Q-P started doing the same thing. Edited May 13, 2024 by s38
