ASJS1963 Posted January 28, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted January 28, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know if you can fire a Leica SF60 speedlight from a Sekonic L478DR light meter remotely? I am wanting yo use the speedlight with a lastolite softbox off camera with a Leica SF C1 commander on the Leica CL camera. It would be handy to take exposure readings remotely from the Sekonic (which has Pocket Wizard built in), but I'm not sure if the signals would work between the two systems or whether I would need to use a flash sync lead between the Leica SF60 and the Sekonic meter. Many thanks.
Advertisement Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Hi ASJS1963, Take a look here Leica SF60 flash with Sekonic L478DR light meter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Exodies Posted January 28, 2020 Share #2  Posted January 28, 2020 Doesn’t the meter have a mode where it waits for the flash? So you would use the C1 commander to trigger it.
ASJS1963 Posted January 28, 2020 Author Share #3  Posted January 28, 2020 Thank you very much, you're right. I wasn't thinking straight, and also the SF60 doesn't have a sync lead socket on it, after checking. Much appreciated 🙂
albireo_double Posted April 14, 2020 Share #4  Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) You can also get a Pocket Wizard Plus IV which has a hot shoe on top and slot your SF 60 in it. Then fire the combo from your PW-enabled Seconic light meter. Alternatively, if you already have some PW triggers other than the Plus IV, you can buy the PW Hotshoe Cord HSFM3 to achieve the same. I have a pair of PW IVs and combine them with all sort of other triggers and flashes to do exactly this. For instance, I usually screw a PW IV trigger on a small light stand, put an extra Profoto Air-Remote or Air-Sync trigger on top of it, in addition to the Air-Remote that sits on my camera, and then use the Sekonic to trigger my Profoto strobes for light metering and of course, the camera with the second Profoto trigger to set off the lights to take my picture. Works like a charm...except the triggers tend to go to sleep after a while so sometimes need to be woken up again).
