Einst_Stein Posted January 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had the luxury to collect many photography stuffs in the past, but recently I am in the mood to get rid of all that I can live without. I am looking for the one I want till I am completely out of photography. I gave away SL and CL to my kids. They are so good, very productive, but just not in the center of my heart. I think they are lack of the subjective sense of classics. I am selling my Hasselblad and Contax 645 MF systems and the digital back. It's a hard decision, but given I can only enjoy one system at a time, and they haven't been on the top of my list for a long time, mainly due to the hand-held-ability and the low ISO, it's time to go. I also decide to drop all of most of my 35mm film equipments, mainly Leica and Contax. While I enjoy the process of developing the films, due to my restricted home-brew environment, I found it's hard to compete the modern digital. I do keep the Kodak Retina IIIc, not for taking picture, but just to enjoy the handling of this artistic masterpiece. i still keep my GX680 for its large film size. I still see something it has that not in my digital cameras. I also keep all large format stuffs. they are not easy to sell, and the price is not worth the trouble. But they can be nice room decorations (to me, not to my wife). I am keeping M240 and the Leica M lenses. But it's a very long story to tell why .... Herr Barnack Posted January 6, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2020 My advice: If it has a red dot, says Leica and/or M on it, keep it. Everything else can go. Except for a Nikon F3hp and one lens for it. If you have that, definitely keep it too. 😎
ajmarton1 Posted January 7, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2020 I would keep a Nikon F6 if you have it. I still have mine. Also, kept my Hasselblad 500C. It's a classic. Got rid of Mamiya and other medium formats. Kept my 4x5 Wista Rosewood field camera. Again, because it's a classic. Kept all my Leica film cameras. Ditched all the electronic stuff like you did SL and Q - but for the M10P and Mono 245.

And an Olympus XA. But mostly I use my M 262 and my Q with a little Canon 7D thrown in for variety.

I was expected it to be a larger format Leica, but I had problem to get the acceptable focusing unless I use small aperture. Shooting always in small aperture is no Leica. I have also get rid of 500CM two years ago. A wrong decision due to the lack of true square format digital back. I was a little regret afterwards. I might get back in 501xx or 503xx.. Nay, hope not. I will stand firmly against he temptation. I have never been Nikon and Canon, but I only had Nikon FM2 and 50mm/f1.4. I think their best is in the super tele and super fast bird watching capability. Canon's TS-E is attractive too. But none is enough to get into the troubles. Edited January 8, 2020 by Einst_Stein
