vicdiz Posted August 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just want to know if this is a normal occurence....in about 2% of the shots I took with the m8 (w/ the new firmware version update) during the auto review mode, instead of seeing the picture taken, I see alternating bands of gray and black lines in the LCD screen, then it disappears. The actual picture does come out normal in the "play" review mode. Is this something to worry about? Thanks.....
Advertisement Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hi vicdiz, Take a look here gray and black banding in auto review. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jamie Roberts Posted August 6, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2007 I think this is the "venetian blind" effect that's been mentioned here before. I've never seen it (yet), but it sounds like a warm-up thing from people's posts; if the camera's been asleep for awhile the first shot can come up like this. Since I have my camera set to not sleep (when shooting a wedding), that could be why I don't see it...
sean_reid Posted August 6, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 6, 2007 It's a bug that should be fixed with a firmware revision. Cheers, Sean
dpattinson Posted August 6, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2007 Seen that too - although in my case it's usually red and black. It appears to be fairly common and well known - and a candidate for firmware fix as Sean said.
sean_reid Posted August 6, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2007 A candidate, yes, and they do indeed plan to fix that. Cheers, Sean
Marquinius Posted August 7, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 7, 2007 I've got the same problem and I've downloaded the last firmware. So it is not fixed! Btw: it doesn't bother me too much, I just thought I was to quick switching on and shooting.
