graphlex Posted February 10 Share #321 Posted February 10 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't see that much glow using the 75 Summilux on my M10. I don't even see it with the 35 SR! Lots of fine pictures posted here with the 75 'Lux and SL2-S, so it seems to be a lens issue. Advertisement Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hi graphlex, Take a look here Show us your Summilux-M 75mm f/1.4 shots wide open. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IkarusJohn Posted February 10 Share #322 Posted February 10 Could be a little bit of haze, I guess. The lens is normally soft wide open. I suggest you go int a dark room with a flashlight and shine it through the lens wide open.
Roland Rick Posted February 10 Share #323 Posted February 10 Wow, very moody image 😍. But is it wide open? I really appreciate it, because it helps to make the decision returning the lens or not. @IkarusJohn, I already checked that, has the usual spots, I checked it also on my Summilux-M 1.4/50, has the same spots, but couldn't find any haze in both lenses. No issues at 1.4 at close distance with the 50mm. Checks done at about 1.1m distance. @tjphoto thanks for your words. Some of the other images here have a soft glow, that's really charming, but the one of mine is a little bit hefty. I will upload some comparison, I am really curious on the feedback. I paid CHF 3500 for it and if it has an issue, I will return it. Other like that, the colours render awesome good in combination with the SL2-S. I prefer the SL over my M11M and M11-P because of the balance with that heavy lens and for critical focus I can zoom in with the EVF. My M10 I unfortunately sold, that was definitely a stupid decision I made, I assumed I wouldn't miss it. I will upload a series of test shoots 1.4, 1.7, 2, 2.4, 2.8, 3.4, 4, 4.8, 5.6 copped to the interesting part. I am really curious what you think about it. My version has also an extreme green/purple fringing wide open. At about 2 to 2.4 it vanishes completely. @graphlex In a delusional moment I unfortunately sold my M10 when purchasing the SL2-S back then. Even though I love the SL2-S, it turned out it was a huge mistake to sell the M10 for it.

Yes, it is - but because it's far away, you won't see any difference to a closed aperture other than the exposure time

Looking at posts 335 and 337 I would say your lens works as expected. Particularly like the first one, post 335, which show guy and bench in foreground in good focus with background nicely out of focus, amount of background blur is typical for 75mm used with full frame camera.

Nope, I returned the other one, was a V2 of 1983, mechanically and - as fat as I can check it - optically OK, but it wasn't. By coincidence, they got another one in and I could exchange it. Very happy with the new one. The new one is a V3 of 1999. Edited February 21 by Roland Rick added more infos
