I’m reminded why I could never part with it

You're right!, don't forget that you only  get 1m closest distance with the Noctilux for that price. Besides, not every copy of the 75/1.4 is perfect and this one is great! So if you do sell and regret it, you're not guaranteed at the same level if you buy one back.

As I use such FLs almost entirely for portraits, a minimum focal distance of 1m or less is not something that excites me.

With a magnification ratio of 1:8, it is also ideal for close-ups of flowers, butterflies, mushrooms etc. Not quite a macro lens, but almost. I used my copy a lot for this.

I seldom use my ‘lux 75 but every time I get it out, there is always the same woah effect. I had it coded and adapted to my M10M some years ago and it works perfectly.

I will never sell it :)

Grossmünster, Zürich. M11M, Summilux-M 1.4/75 at 1.4. Created in 1980, my version 3 is of the first batch 1999. Although the lens was created for film instead of digital, this 45 yrs old optics delivers without any problem a sufficient resolution to the 60 megapixels sensor of the M11M. That's what I call sustainable.

Summilux-M 1.4/75 at 1.4 on my SL2-S. That's my photo buddy William from Zürich. We both meet often by coincidence, so also a week ago at a Leica event in Zürich and were lucky to join a Peter Karbe lecture about Leica optics and its history. That was one of the most interesting lectures of my life and beliefe me, I visited a lot of lectures. Always when we meet, he's asking me for a portrait, so I made this one, window light only during the event (organised by GraphicArt: Leica Profi Day). Except for slight exposure mods to my taste and a 4x5 crop, this is almost straight out of camera. - Guys, I love that vintage lens.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the lens takes portraits best with natural light - some of those I like best are using just window light.

Couldn't try it yet otherwise. Have no longer a studio. Retired myself last year. Of course I am still available as 2nd shooter. Just get in touch. ;)

I had a V3 Summilux 75mm and sold it years ago to buy a Apo Summicron 75mm L-Mount which I really adore. But I missed the Summilux 75mm since then and ordered one today from a Leica authorized dealer in Germany. The lens was serviced at Leica only a few days ago…hope everything will be fine and focus is optimized for 1.4 at 2-4m distance. I will find out next week :)

Never sell a Leica Lens 😇

I bought the 2/75 as well, but decided to keep the lux. It gets less use, but still love to take it out !

Yes I know…it was a big mistake :( The Lux was in mint condition, was the German Version and focus was spot on. The Lux I ordered now is a Canadian Version in good condition, but I don’t know if it needs to be calibrated. I don‘t have the salary to spend that much money without saving a few months. Now I know that I should have waited a few months instead of selling the Lux. That mistake will never happen again ;)
