Carissa Posted December 5, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I’m a brand new Q2 owner, just got it this week. I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure out my problem - when using the camera LCD screen to compose a photo, tapping the LCD touchscreen to focus does not work. The camera gives no response. Tapping to focus on a particular area of the live image to focus on that area is a feature I use a lot, so this is pretty concerning to me. I thought this was a feature that the Q2 offered. In the Focusing menu, the “Touch AF” setting is set to “On”. The touchscreen itself works as expected in other scenarios, e.g., swiping through photos in Play mode. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Am I misunderstanding this feature? Thank you in advance for any insight you can offer!
Advertisement Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Hi Carissa, Take a look here Leica Q2 Touch AF not working, or is it me?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
iRandom Posted December 5, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2019 I'm wondering if it perhaps doesn't work in all the different AF modes. I use it with the AF mode set to Field (I think that is what the option is called).
Leica Guy Posted December 5, 2019 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2019 You need to turn on touch AF in the focusing menu.

It didn't occur to me that Touch AF would only work with certain modes, and the manual didn't seem to mention this. I was able to get it working by switching modes 29 minutes ago, Leica Guy said: You need to turn on touch AF in the focusing menu. It is on - as iRandom noted, it turns out it only works with certain AF modes, not all of them (for instance it doesn't work concurrently with Face Detection). Thanks for the help all! Siriusone59 Posted December 5, 2019 Share #5 Posted December 5, 2019 There is a thread here that discussed this problem, hopefully it is cured in a firmware update.
