nswanson7 Posted August 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone had experience having their older Leica lenses coded, specifically, how long does it take from the time you send in the lense until it returns home? nswanson7
Advertisement Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Hi nswanson7, Take a look here coding of old leica lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Olsen Posted August 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 5, 2007 I have had my 50 mm 1,0 Noctilux and 35 mm 2,0 Summicron sent to Solms, Germany for coding. What they actually do is to change the bayonet to a one with codes and smaller tollerances to fit a digital camera. It took about 5 weeks. Service time is now shorter, I have heard. george + Posted August 5, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 5, 2007 My 50mm Summicron took about four months via N.J. It works fine, and they replaced my lost red button.
cwf Posted August 5, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 5, 2007 I sent in four lenses, in two batches two weeks apart, in early to mid-June. Three of the four are back. Based on an estimate from Leica-USA I am expecting to see the last one in the coming week.
ttriolo Posted August 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 31, 2007 Nowhere have I ever seen a cost for coding from Leica. Can someone tell me what I can expect to pay for this service? Also, what's the turnaround these days? Thanks in advance.
Laki Posted August 31, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 31, 2007 the coding is around 100.- euro per lens/incl. tax and i've been told that it will take around 3 weeks here in germany (i got my cost estimate yesterday for coding/adjusting 5 lenses plus one for adjusting only and its all together 1200.- euro ). before i send them in, i had called and asked for the estimated time, because i had been told, by beginning of the year, its better to wait because of the high workload they have. as the estimated times before were 6-8 weeks it seems now to get better. ttriolo Posted September 2, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Laki. I think I'll go the Milich route. Both price and turn-around time is better. I don't get lens adjustments but I can live without them.
