Daniel81 Posted November 30, 2019 Share #1  Posted November 30, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I am a total SL Newbie. Got my SL four months ago. I live in Canada. The weather is getting cold.  I shoot primarily in Manual mode - mainly with my only native SL lens - the 75 Summicron SL. On my last two outings, in the cold weather, I repeatedly go to use the clickwheel, during a shoot, to adjust the f stop . . . and I find in the cold, the clickwheel has become so much more stiff that it can no longer offer me an effectively sufficient distinction between the light pressure needed to rotate the wheel and the stronger pressure that presses the wheel (turning it into a button) and adjusts from Manual Mode to the other modes (Aperture priority, Shutter Speed Priority , etc etc). So it just gets endlessly frustrating as I go to adjust my aperture with light pressure and inadvertently shift the camera into a mode other than Manual!! (never had this problem in the warmer weather). Has anyone else encountered this? I presume there is a good shoot-taking-workflow-friendly workaround through assigning aperture adjustments to another button? Any good recommendations? Thanks. helged Posted November 30, 2019 Share #2 Â Posted November 30, 2019 I have used SL at temperatures at/below minus 20 deg C for several days in row, without any problems besides stiff fingers....
Chuck Albertson Posted December 1, 2019 Share #3 Â Posted December 1, 2019 You can swap the shutter speed/aperture change function between the front dial and the rear click wheel. Setup menu>Customize Control>Wheel Assignment>take your pick.
