spylaw4 Posted August 10, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) This morning there is a major airline security alert at all UK airports (see http://www.bbc.co.uk). ALL luggage must be checked in to the aircraft hold - you are only allowed essential papers and medicines with you on the flight (see links from the BBC website) I seem to recall a thread somewhere here on the effect of X-rays on memory cards. IIRC it said that the hand luggage X-ray was ok. But if one's camera/computer/film etc is being subjected to the more intense hold luggage scanning - what effect could this have on images? dhsimmonds Posted August 10, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2006 Far more worrying for me is to consign expensive camera and lenses to the hold and leave them to the mercy of baggage handlers and pilferer's. I have always kept my camera's with me as hand baggage, sometimes leaving chargers and storage deveices for the hold baggage.................if this becomes a prolonged feature of air transport, I think that sea ferries and the "Chunnel" will be the only way to get anywhere for me. Cheers, Dave
