Hi Everyone.

New to forum, but I am a long time M user: DBL stroke M3, one of the few who loved the M5, a couple of M6's and Leica glass.

When I switched to digital, sadly I sold most of the Leica stuff, with the exception of the M3 which was my fathers. I Probably will hang on to that forever just because...

I then "retooled" getting into Nikon digital gear and glass. Fine stuff, but I REALLY miss the Leica gear. I am seriously looking into the SL2, getting rid of the Nikon equipment. I do a lot of video and the specs and fact that you can connect an external recorder i.e. Atomos makes this even more attractive. My one lens would probably be the 24-90.

So here is my question: would anyone know if the USB port on the camera would act as an AC/DC power source for the camera? I do interview work and the camera is generally stationary so I could use AC adapter in place of batteries. At $250.00US is just ridiculous. I'd need 4 of those for a day of work. So AC adaptor makes sense.

If not would this be a firmware update someday? Dumb ? I suppose.

Yes, you can power the camera over USB Type C. It works with a battery bank like you'd use for a phone, from a simple USB wall charger, or from a V-mount USB breakout. I covered this in my overview video. Here's a screen grab with the charge light illuminated indicating USB power. Supplying power was my myCharge 6700mAh battery pack.

David,

Thanks for pointing out that video. VERY informative. The fact that the SL2 now has 3.5mm in/out for audio. When I was looking at the SL, having to buy the Audio Adapter AA-SCL4 for another ~$175.00US Ouch!

Back to the USB port, you mentioned in your video about using a phone charger-USB-C-camera. Would the power brick that came with my MacBook Pro be used for this? I know that all the power bricks have different power wattage and so on. The power brick for the MbP has a USBC connector. I am assuming the small charger that comes with and iPhone wouldn't work, or would it? I suppose for that a USB (2 or 3?) from that charger to USBC would be needed. Not sure about the wattage/power though.

Thanks again. Really an amazing camera.
