You can also email Leica with the serial number of your M9 and ask which sensor you have. Edited October 28, 2019 by ianman
kievnut Posted October 29, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted October 29, 2019 Sensor was replaced on Jan 2014. Emailed Leica and replied with "Sensor corrosion" and most likely have to pay for the replacement. I thought "Sensor corrosion" is "some dots on the sensor" (I found this before the sensor was replaced in 2014) but this "spider web" like stuff is 3D on the sensor and is like growing... It is like this
Ray Vonn Posted October 29, 2019 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2019 That's amazing, first time I've seen something like that. Fair enough if the camera's been dropped on the floor, but just to corode like that??

Jan 2014 was well before the new type was developed so that sensor is at risk. But you got the answer from Leica so now you are sure anyway. I thought it was always dots too but I have seen a few weird shapes posted here and there.

And yet I would still go on replacing sensors rather than plump for the newer CCD-less models.

I replaced the original sensor with a second generation one and it is now corroded after 4 years, I have already contacted Leica and they said there is no guarantee.
