marknorton Posted August 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've decided one reason this lens and I do not get on is the focussing action. If I hold the lens in one hand, front element down, and use my other hand to turn the focussing ring, all is fine, silky smooth focussing and I can make minute adjustments. Turn the lens over so that the bayonet ring is down, and the focussing is quite sticky and the ring jumps as you turn it. Minute adjustments are impossible and that's the way it is when it's on the camera. Given the need for extreme focussing accuracy with this lens, it's not good enough. How is the focussing action on your lens?

eudemian Posted August 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2007 Mine has a smooth focusing action when the lens is held in any plane, sorry yours is peculiar. I have focus problems but the actual focusing mechanism seems silky smooth. This lens seems to demand a lot from the owner, I know many people abandon it but I am still coming to terms with mine, I think one image that I really like would be enough for me to regard as a keeper. I would like to be more help Tom
marknorton Posted August 3, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted August 3, 2007 Thanks, Solms adjusted it when the lens was coded in 12/2006, so it looks like it's going back for another try.

Iron Flatline Posted August 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2007 Smooth, but finicky - I don't like the thin little focus ring. I wish it was as easy (and beefy) as my 35mm Nokton. But my action is fine, so you may have something that needs a little adjustment.
