I just found a used MP for what I think is a fair price. From the serial number, I gather it was made around  2005.

I found the shutter button has a long travel, like my M6 TTL, I assume because of the metering. No problem, though not

as tactile as my M4. What worries me is the rewind spindle. When pulled up, it is very loose and wobbly. Neither of my

M2's are like that. My question is will this be a problem down the road, should I be worried, and is it repairable to make it tighter?

Hoping some MP , MA lovers will have some thoughts.

Many thanks, Warren

I think it depends upon your interpretation of loose and wobbly. In my experience of both MP and M-A cameras there is some variation in the tightness of the rewind knob and there can be slight play vertically when it is lifted in the rewind position but never anything I'd describe as "very loose and wobbly". Being mechanical, there is no reason why it cannot be tightened (or replaced) in the future.

Thanks Ian.

I guess I held Leica to a higher standard for mechanical perfection. It's pretty wobbly.

I remember being very impressed with an M-A I got to play with at the Leica store in London a few years ago.

I'm returning the MP as the frame lines seem to be stuck at 35. Fine but I use other focal lengths as well.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
