Q2 Fast Back Up Of 47 MP Files?

I know this is a broad question on an even broader topic,  but what is a good "reasonably" quick solution for backing up my large Q2 DNG/JPG files after a shooting session?

I want to simply take my SD cards and safely back them up for use in post software.  If I can do this on the road, all the better.  I am also willing to upgrade my older MacBook Air to a new Apple notebook, if anyone has additional thoughts on that, particularly which model.  I use my notebook with a Samsung T3 SSD drive for back up.  I also just tried using a DJI Boss Co-Pilot drive on a trip, but using it has too many problems and I didn't like it.

I’m currently using a  WD My Passport Wireless Pro drive to back all my photos in the field.  I have the 4tb model.  When done shooting,  pop your SD card in the drive and your photos are safely backed up.  The drive is rechargeable so you can take with you anywhere. The copy time is surprisingly fast for DNG files.

In some ways, I find using a notebook and backing up to an external SSD drive a better solution for me.

I transfert to a Samsung SSD connected to my iMac pro to work on the files and every week I backup to a Synology NAS. I edit files from a x100f, XT3 and M10 and I didn't find any speed/performance problem working with the 47mp files of the Q2. A relief to be honest

It’s not the least expensive solution, but it’s one I can recommend.  I bought a new iPad Pro to use with my Q2 when traveling.  It holds a terabyte in its own right, and if there is a WiFi connection available it also backs up to Adobe’s cloud.  Couldn’t be happier with the approach.  Good for most routine editing tasks, fast, nice display, and I can store locally and in the cloud at the same time.  In a pinch, it will even transfer files wirelessly (though that is agonizingly slow, so I’d recommend the SD dongle if you shoot more than a dozen pics per day.). Much better travel choice than even a MacBook Air or Microsoft Surface.

yes, I just use my iPhone for backup, but the iPad Pro is even better.

And with iOS 13 it will eventually get lots better, because you can directly import into LR.

Yes, the file management in iOS 13 should improve ease of us dramatically.  And you are right that the iPhone is also a perfectly valid backup solution, just much less fun for editing and sharing.

I just used my older iPad Pro (10.5) with 500 GB storage for backup of over over 2,500 images with the SD card dongle, but wasn't totally thrilled with it on a two week trip.  On the other hand, the new iPad Pro 1 TB with newest OS is attractive and I have a cellular chip, so the connectivity is nice when traveling globally.  But ... the price of a fully configured new cellular iPad Pro is in the range of a MacBook Pro, so I am on the fence (although it isn't cellular enabled).  I need help out of this, so I can get back to shooting

I own both a current MacBook Pro (for work) as well as the current 11” iPad Pro with 1TB of storage.  I skipped the cellular chip in the iPad since I can use my phone as a mobile hot spot.

For travel specifically?  I’d take the iPad Pro in a heartbeat over the MacBook Pro.  Much more fun for routine editing and for general internet use and email—the things I am most likely to do while on the go.  Not even close.  But if you told me I could only own one of them?  It would be the MacBook Pro.  The speed of the current iPad is ample; it’s a legitimate computer now for most purposes including photography.  But the OS?  And lack of certain critical software applications?  Lack of mouse support and poor ability to run an external monitor?  No external keyboards but except the one with the rubberized chiclet keys?  It’s not yet an “only” computer.  So if you can only own one it would be the MacBook Pro for me.  But if I could own both?  And travel with the iPad?  That’s very nearly Nirvana.
