I tend to do my more considered landscape pictures on my 5x4, but the M8 is so portable, it does get out to play in the landscape on occasion!

Selection from Cornwall. Busy beach scene is at same one (Sennen) as stormy shot - no ND grads on that sky either! Last one of St Michael's Mount taken by my friend's son receiving advice from the Godolphin Arms pub terrace whilst I enjoyed a couple of pints of Tribute. The immediate feedback enabled him to make very rapid progress and light the photography fire in him, exactly the same way it has for my 9 year old son.

Noticed that Lightroom doesn't sharpen sufficiently when outputting for web. Something else to tinker with!

Wow what a fantastic thread. A whole landscape exhibition. great work. I am happy to see that I am not mistaken when I feel that the M8 is the best landscape camera I have ever used.

Here are a few from Iceland, some colorful mountains, lava and hot springs. All taken with 28 mm Elmarit-M Asp. All taken last week.

Enjoy.

hi friends,

i was curious how the m8 would perform for landscape photography, so i took it as my only camera on a scotland trip a couple of weeks ago. in fact, i am very happy with the results, in particular with the 21mm leica lens. you can find samples in:

all the best, peter

Peter, your 'ring of Brodgar' is quite simply superb. It has one of the best monochrome skyscapes I have ever seen. Congratulations!!

Hi,

During my last trip to the South Island, NZ, I brought along both my R8/DMR and M8. Some of the best photos were taken with the M8. I have posted some of these in the Photo Forum. If you are interested, have a look in the New Zealand Gallery, Zenfolio | N.S. Ng.

For years I have travelled with both my R and M. But lately, the M8 has been my first choice because of its size and weight.

Thanks,

N.S. Ng

I love your color mood in the last two images. subtle but providing impact! It wouldn't have worked as well in Velvia colors

And the M8 is good for 'night cityscapes' too. First from Nyhavn in Copenhagen, the second from the harbour of Helsinki. Both with WATE w/o filters.

Hi guys,

Congratulations! I am impressed by the quality of your pictures. I have rarely seen such a high quality in just few pages.

Anybody did a comparative shoot between M8 and analog M?

Flavio,

The obvious difference is the wider angles you get with an analogue Leica. Due to the crop factor of 1,33 of the M8. I have my MP lying about, but use it very little after the M8 came into the house. Pity really. There is this difference in file quality of a scanned neg compared to a file from a M8 that outweighs the crop factor issue.

Ask instead of how the M8 stands up against other digitals. I have a 1Ds II, but still 2/3 of my shots are with the M8. The M8 is lighter and more discrete, and - as a friend of me pointed out; not so vulgar as the big D-SLR. - Culture, you know, Flavio.

Attached is a picture from Kolding, Denmark. Most likely it is two sales agents from Phase One coming down the road there. We better run!

The first was shot on my lanai (porch) with a 21 ZM, the second was from a beach a few miles down the road.

Someone mentioned Long Beach Island, NJ. I grew up there in the 50s. Harvey Cedars. While I loved that island, I like my current island home better - Kauai.
