tester23 Posted August 19, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) soooo... many years ago I got the birthday gift: Plustek OpticFilm 7300. It was never "great" so it was waiting for better times (from time to time I was scanning something). Now I have several rolls to scan and new Leica M6 + 35mm summicron that I just bought. After the first scans from summicron I saw a disaster. I came back to the store and asked if they have any digital body for tests. They had M10. I attached my lens and to my joy/sadness everything was fine. Lens is ok. I took some magnifying glass and looked at the negative itself - it looked correct / sharp. My M6 might needs some adjustments - but I started to have mixed feelings about the actual scanner. I disassembled the scanner. It works by moving the scanning head below the material. Head is moving on steel rods. Then I noticed it. One rod is moving on brass rings. Other one did not have those rings. Faulty manufacturing. Missing parts. For this reason the scanning head was moved 1.5mm out of focus. I have this scanner since ... 10 years?? I manufactured the missing parts on 3d printer from plastic. I am happy that I solved the issue and feel really sad about the past as I ditched a lot of negatives that looked "not sharp"..... sad frog Edited August 19, 2019 by tester23
