Have noticed that when focus peaking is combined with magnification while manual focusing, the focus peaking is hardly visible, but when focus peaking alone is used, it is quite visible.  Has anyone else noticed this?

I contacted Leica tech support about this and they said that it’s normal for peaking to less noticeable when combined with magnification. Reason for this is that less of image is  being focused on and therefore fewer peaking spots will be visible. I thought that might be the explanation and will therefore use only peaking by itself when manual focusing. I think this is faster, IMO, than trying to achieve focus on a magnified image.
