septo Posted July 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have noticed that when focus peaking is combined with magnification while manual focusing, the focus peaking is hardly visible, but when focus peaking alone is used, it is quite visible. Has anyone else noticed this?
Advertisement Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Hi septo, Take a look here Focus peaking issue. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jared Posted July 8, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2019 No, I haven’t had a problem with the combo. Perhaps try a few more subjects to see if the issue is consistent?
septo Posted July 8, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted July 8, 2019 I contacted Leica tech support about this and they said that it’s normal for peaking to less noticeable when combined with magnification. Reason for this is that less of image is being focused on and therefore fewer peaking spots will be visible. I thought that might be the explanation and will therefore use only peaking by itself when manual focusing. I think this is faster, IMO, than trying to achieve focus on a magnified image.
