cumirebus Posted July 6, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I read somewhere that the Nissin i40 flash unit works with Leica Q. I bought it second hand and upon inserting the flash unit, the contact doesn't really go all the way through. So I guess I gotta fork out more $$ 😂
Advertisement Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Hi cumirebus, Take a look here Nissin i40 doesn't work with Q2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SirBlunder Posted March 9, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2023 Is this true? I bought a Sony Nissin i40 and… can’t get the flash to fire. Yes, it barely fits.. takes a lot of force. Flash fires when you push the test button. Anybody have experience with a Sony Nissin i40 and a Q2?
Farrell Gallery Posted March 10, 2023 Share #3 Posted March 10, 2023 If you're shooting full manual, not sure why it wouldn't.
pgh Posted March 10, 2023 Share #4 Posted March 10, 2023 Sony hotshoes are different than standard hotshoes.

Almost positive it’s all the way in. Maybe I need to sell this one and get a Fuji version instead. Kind of frustrated. Did some research before buying this thing (clearly not enough) and didn’t see anything about the Sony version being awkward.

For using a flash on manual you should be fine with one for Fuji or Nikon. You won't get TTL or HSS on any flash not sold for Leica. Yes Nissin makes the flash for Leica but they don't show any sold under their brand name supporting Leica. Prophoto and Godox have commanders that support Leica but that's not quite what you're looking for. I also think those support the SL series but might not work on a Q2. I did NOT realize that Sony flashes weren’t compatible period. Frustrating.
