Guest Posted June 26, 2019 Share #22  Posted June 26, 2019 Quick update, I’ve just received a TL 35mm 1.4 in the post. Initial thoughts; heavier than expected but it feels solid and well put together. Lens hood is ridiculously sized. Shallow DOF capability looks really impressive, I’m not a huge bokeh person but nice to have the option. Already seeing the ISO number roughly halved in similar conditions to the 23mm. I’ve also gone ahead and ordered an ex-demo TL2 from Leica UK for some comparisons. I’ll see how it is in hand. 14 day return policy if I need it.  thanks for all the guidance!

Already seeing the ISO number roughly halved in similar conditions to the 23mm. ... Glad to help. The ISO number change makes sense since the 35/1.4 is twice as fast as the 23/2. This also seems to indicate you shoot wide open a good bit of the time. I had my CL and M-D out together the other day and pulled the Summilux 35/1.4 lens off the M-D to do some testing of the Voigtländer 10mm on the M-D FF format. While I was working with the M-D, I put the 'Lux on the CL mostly as a temporary body cap but couldn't help shoot a couple of exposures in my living room. 35mm is a normal lens on the CL and the 'Lux is indeed fast (the V10 is an f/5.6 lens) ... But the thing that got me was that when I looked at the photo, a 35mm lens seems so so very much like a telephoto when you've been working with the 10mm lens for a week or two! It was funny to think of "my usual wide" on the M-D being a bit of a telephoto lens...
