cumirebus Posted June 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) hi guys, finally got my Q2 today! I've seen somewhere, not sure where, a compilation of Q2 tips and tricks, recommended settings etc, does anyone know? First thing i did when I got my Q2 is to put Hoya Fusion One clear filter to protect original lens.

malbooth Posted June 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 22, 2019 Hi, I also received my new Q2 yesterday. This may be a stupid question as I know it is dust and shower proof, but is there any perceived need to tape over the holes for the microphone and speaker on the camera body to stop dust or moisture getting in? I think I like the improved menu and I also like the new on/off switch (no more accidental continuous shooting). I also think the new thumbwheel and button is a decent feature. I'm told the new battery will last longer than that on the Q. Nevertheless I still purchased a spare. I was in Manhattan recently with my old Q and after reading discussions on here, I bought two 128GB SD cards that are super fast at 170MB/s to process the much larger image files on the Q2. These cards were much cheaper than I thought they'd be at less than US$40 (at B&H).
cumirebus Posted June 22, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted June 22, 2019 hey @malbooth nice! i've been enjoying the camera so far. imho it really lives up to the hype...very pleased with it so far (coming from X100F and Nikon D750) I did the same thing as you, I covered the holes and camera with acid free tape. I been using this tape for many2 years, very strong adhesive and yet easy to remove without any mark. this is the tape i use : https://mt-tape.us/ costs about USD2 per tape. btw how's the performance of the SD card when taking quick succession of photos? care to share the brand and place you bought it from?

Hi, I bought my 128 GB cards at B&H Photo Video in Manhattan. They're SanDisk Extreme Pro. I've not yet pushed them to see how fast writing or continuous shooting is. I think I saw a thread where someone mentioned SD cards with a 300MB/s speed and I'm sure they'd be much more expensive. The knowledgeable staff at B&H told me that the cards I bought would be all I need for the Q2. Thanks for the info re acid free tape. I loved using my Q and I'm sure the Q2 will be an improvement. Also, I'm learning how to print selected photos with a pretty decent newish printer, so I'm sure the beefed up sensor will prove itself there. TK! Posted June 23, 2019 Share #5 Posted June 23, 2019 Acid free tape? I am going with tesa power tape. Hope it won‘t hurt my Q... -tk
cumirebus Posted June 24, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted June 24, 2019 (edited) @TK! I'm an artist by trade, so I use these acid free tapes a lot on my painting/collages. I started using them on my video/camera equipment many years ago as cheaper alternative to gaffer tape and i never looked back since. imho they're easier to tear and remove, of course not as strong as gaffer, but enough for my daily personal use. Vov Posted June 30, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 30, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) The text review by Thorsten Overgaard (link in that thread) gives recommended settings and rationale behind each. I found it helpful.
Trankster Posted July 5, 2019 Share #8 Posted July 5, 2019 When removing the battery you have to push it back in slightly for it to fully eject. Be careful, do not force it.
