Following my last post and my subsequent embarrassment, may I reluctantly pose a further question, this time concerning suitable batteries for the DG3. I have two batteries which I currently use in my DG1 (remember them?). The DG3 battery is a BP-DC3-E 7.2V rated at 1500mAh. The batteries from my DG1 are BP-DC1-E 7.2V rated at 1400mAh.

Whatever else I may or not be, I am not an electrician. Are the batteries interchangeable or should I invest in another 1500mAh battery for the DG3? Although both batteries appear to fit the same charger, is it safe to charge the lower rated battery in the DG3 charger without overheating problems?

I use my LC1/D2 (1400mAh) and L1/D3 batteries (1500mAh) interchangeably with no problems whatsoever, so as long as the ones you referenced fit both your camera and your charger, you should be fine. FYI, the voltage is the critical bit, the milliamp hours (mAh) simply determine how long the battery charge will last and 1400mAh is slightly less than 1500mAh...
