Hi all,

the current version of the Fotos app is absolutely disappointing, see the appropriate threads.

Anyway, I am deep in France and yesterday I tried to take some fotos from my kids during our visit of a supermarket. (Always very impressive compared to our German supermarkets. People here know how to live a good life...)

Camera across my shoulder, phone connected, shooting in stealth mode. Camera in full auto mode gave iso100, 1/50s and wide open. Really not suitable for this setting, most shots lost, no keeper at all. Using the app to choose higher aperture and shorter shutter times we not successful. User Interface hurts and more important my settings got lost almost immediately.

I never looked in to auto mode at all but the app seems to force me. Or do you see a chance to get around this? Useable full manual mode would be the solution.

From another thread this morning I learned to set minimum shutter time (actually it says maximum?). Next time I will choose 1/250 s general minimum for my supermarket setting. Moreover I will manually set iso to 3200 in the hope aperture will somehow stop down. As I do not see a chance to sustainably set the aperture.

Anyone else using trying to make some use out of the app? All hints welcome... 🙂

tnx

There is another thread which also covers many of the frustrations with the FOTOS App.

I’ve found ways to use it, but it requires patience and persistence.

Full manual is not available. It does not recognize any setting on the camera such as shutter speed, ISO, aperture. Set all those in the App. The slider will allow setting, but once done you cannot go out of the remote area and back without it resetting all settings. Very frustrating. You also cannot use manual focus. Very frustrating. I found it difficult to figure out where it’s focusing although the Leica support people told me I can set a focus point on the app screen by touching it. It sounds better than it works.

The App can be used successfully, but it does need a lot of work. You might just try it on the auto settings and see what you get.

Theres an opportunity to send in bugs to Leica support from the App  I recommend you do that.

Good luck.

Dan
