JeremyG Posted June 6, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Focus peaking seems to be a bit hit and miss, sometimes it works and sometimes not, it’s obviously switched on. I’ve been taking some closeups of roses in the garden so relatively sharp edges and yes, I did have the camera set to a different colour to that of the rose! Anyone come across the same thing? jeff_m Posted June 6, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 6, 2019 Works fine for me. 300 shots at Descanso Gardens by Pasadena,Ca and all in focus. All shot with tripod. About 75% focus peaking the rest autofocus.

JeremyG Posted June 6, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted June 6, 2019 My apologies what what do you mean, the software was updated earlier in the year.
wda Posted June 7, 2019 Share #5 Posted June 7, 2019 Wide angle lens. Good depth of field. Multiple peaks. I try moving the zone of peaks at close range until I place the highest density over the desired point of focus. Works fine for me.

Focus peaking won’t show up when there is not enough contrast — a closeup filling the screen with red roses on an overcast day for example. It will help immensely if you shoot DNG+JPEG and change the JPEG settings to zero saturation for a black and white EVF preview. At least 2x easier than trying to use focus peaking on a color preview.
