wparsonsgisnet Posted June 27, 2006 Share #21 Posted June 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) My favorites are: 1. (color) Fuji NPX (iso 800 pro color neg film). 2. (b/w) Ilford XP2 (colorgenic, or whatever it's called). Both of these get processed as color neg film -- By Somebody Else/Just What the Doctor Ordered. I, too, am a digital guy, now. I've been shooting with the D2 exclusively since 2/04 with the single exception of 1 roll of Fuji NPX last December, when I needed iso 1600 (D2, what?) C'mon DM ! Gimme those "REAL" Leica lenses, of which I own several expensive examples that are sitting in a bag, and a nice iso. I don't think I'm going to miss the 5mp sensor, either, tho I am keeping the D2. It's a great camera. I just want all my REAL lenses in my hands, again.
Advertisement Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Hi wparsonsgisnet, Take a look here Hello, & a question: What's your fav Film/Dev?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mascarpone Posted June 27, 2006 Share #22 Posted June 27, 2006 Tri-X, XTOL 1:1. Best I ever had. This is my Leica M standard for years now. Before that I used the 1950s oldtimer D76 most of the time - Xtol is a 2006 Porsche, especially when it comes to grain, sharpness, shadow detail and the ability to push the film. 1600 ASA is no problem. For landscapes I use Tmax 100, at night Tmax 3200, also processed in Xtol 1:1. At the moment I am experimenting with some 10-14 ASA SPUR film for very high resolution landscapes, but I don't have a clear opinion yet.
nyrich Posted June 27, 2006 Share #23 Posted June 27, 2006 Not shooting b&w these days but it was Tri-X and D76 1:1 when I did.
Findus Posted June 28, 2006 Share #24 Posted June 28, 2006 Best bet would be to try different combo's. Everybody has their favorites, as you might of noticed, I have tried lots of combos but in terms of quality/price/forgiveness I stick to HC110 with Tri-x useually at 250asa and Rodinal with Agfa APX which is I gather no longer to be had, glad I stocked up them. I yet have to find a good alternative to APX once my stock finishes. I quite like EFKE as well, the 25 asa are very smooth indeed and easily developed with rodinal, but I dislike the need for pre-washing/rinsing. Ilford is good but has become expensive. Anyway have fun trying things out, I'm sure you are going to enjoy the process
Lucklik Posted June 29, 2006 Share #25 Posted June 29, 2006 Rodinal is availbale in Belgium at http://www.fotografie-meurs.be Guy Meurs buys in Germany so Rodinal is available. I've been told that the Rolley films are APX films and Rolley films are still available too. My fav film couple is Tri-X with Rodinal at ISO 400 16 min Rodinal 1+50 at 20C agitation every 30 seconds Or at ISO 400 21 min Rodinal 1+100 at 21C agitation every 30 seconds Or at ISO 1600 22min Rodinal 1+50 at 20 agition every 5 minutes. Keep shooting grainlovers I used to be called Luc ;-) and I'm trying to get my name back
jackart Posted June 30, 2006 Share #26 Posted June 30, 2006 Yes, but it doesn't smell the same Michael, I absulutely agree. I have long wet darkroom experience behind also. Just too impatient to develop...
rich8155 Posted June 30, 2006 Share #27 Posted June 30, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use different ones for different moods or look. After lots of experimenting lately (and perhaps not quite done yet) these have turned out to be my favorites: Fuji Acros in Rodinal or D-76 Ilford Delta 100 in D-76 Shantou ERA100 in D-76 Tri-X in D-76 or Rodinal Bergger 200 in D-
john_j Posted June 30, 2006 Share #28 Posted June 30, 2006 HI- Have to say Tri X and Rodinal (1:50) is probably my all time favorite. I have recently used Xtol 1 : 1 and Tri X and liked it as a close second. When more speed is necessary, I like Fuji 1600 or T max 3200 both in Rodinal. BTW, Rodinal in back in stock at Freestyle in California.
